The Sam Reynolds’ coffeetalk…

I first met Sam Reynolds during DOT 2009. I always loved the riding style of UK dirtjumpers, especially those ones who are sticking on trails despite the bad weather they have over the channel ! Maybe it’s because i was a huge fan of SPRUNG and i stick to that style of riding from the begining, anyway, watching Sam riding on the Hafjell’s trail was pure pleasure. More than that, he was sending crazy tricks, and smiling non-stop for one week. Not that his Harry Potter haircut style isn’t helping to make him looks cool, his behaviour is always really chill’. I can’t wait to film with him again this year, and even if he didn’t make it that good at Leogang, for the first contest of the year, we can put for sure the blame on the snow héhéhé… Anyway, his good riding pays off and he’s now on the Blabs team and still killin’ it for Nike 6.0 as you have seen it couple of weeks ago in “behind the scene video” from the 6.0 UK shooting. Enough speaking for me now, let’s the man express himself…Photos credits on Adam Swords, Joakim Andreassen and Szymon Nieborak.

- Name ? Age ? Who you’re riding for ? Sam Reynolds, 18 years old and I ride for DMR bikes, Nike 6.0, FOX clothing, Blabs, Lezyne and TSG.

- How and when did you start riding a bike ? As a kid I always loved bikes, making ramps out of wood for my granddads old school raleigh chopper! I have been competing in freestyle for the last 2 years now.

- When did you become a “pro” ? This year I finished college so am on a gap year riding as much as possible! If I can keep it going for a few years that would be great but if not im off to uni next year!

- What were the biggest changes in life turning pro ? I’m really lazy now and don’t do much. Its pretty cool.

- How do you train ? I should train more, because I don’t. I ride pumptrack a lot, every now and again I will ride woodchip jump at the compound but I plan to start training more soon! I promise!

- Can you describe a normal day of your life ? Wake up around 9ish, eat pop tarts if there are any left in the cupboard, sometimes go for a little xc ride for an hour (not often though) drive to the compound, ride pumptrack and go to the sandwich shop where the hot girl works, maybe ride woodchip jump in the afternoon or do some building, drive to DMR teamate Olly Wilkins house and watch a film, then go out in Guildford to party!

- Can you please briefly sum up your season ? This year I won every round of the national king of dirt series that I entered and won overall. The low point was at Big in Bavaria dirt comp where I had a big one and knocked myself out and dislocated my collarbone which hurt and stopped me riding for a month or so. The best point has to be Anti days of thunder in Hafjell Norway! Cant wait to see all the footage…

- What are you focused on for next year ? Any changes ? Sponsors ? Same sponsors, hopefuly more riding and good results.

- What are you up to for this winter ? Chillin, hopefully do some articles for magazines, riding with friends, whatever really, I have no plans.

- What are you doing when you’re not on you bike ? Watching films, tv, building jumps, partying.

- What kind of music do you listen to ? Whatever is on Radio 1 at the time.

- What was your dream when you were a kid ? Did you succeed ? I wanted to go fast all the time, now I go fast a lot on my bike so I guess so !

- Which skills do you think are recquired to be a top-level athlete ? Well for freestyle mountain biking you gotta be pretty gnarly but you gotta have the skills not to hurt yourself. So you gotta get the balance right of trying new things but being safe too.

- Is there some persons who helped you along your career or now and you would like to thanks or put the spotlights on ?
Just to DMR bikes who have helped me from the start! www.dmrbikes.com

That’s me grabbing the bull by the horns. It’s a metaphor…… but that actually did happen!
