Don’t mess with SUPREME…

Samsung EX1 : super lighty lens.

Samsung EX1 digital camera : Samsung proudly introduces the 10 megapixel EX1 (also known as Samsung TL500 in the United States), a high-end compact digital camera designed specifically for today’s advanced and enthusiast photographers. The new flagship of the company’s compact digital camera family, the Samsung EX1 incorporates a range of advanced features, including a high-performance imaging sensor and one of the most impressive lenses ever found on a compact camera – a 24mm ultra-wide angle Schneider Kreuznach, f/1.8. The high-end Schneider lens offers a 24mm, ultra-wide focal length and 3x optical zoom. Much wider than traditional compact cameras, the 24mm lens allows photographers to capture more of a desired scene, such as beautiful landscapes and large groups of friends or family.

Samsung EX1 equipped with f/1.8 Schneider lens
The Samsung EX1 digital camera is sure to turn heads thanks to its f/1.8 Schneider lens. The impressive f/1.8 lens offers photographers a wider range of aperture steps and shallow depth-of-field, giving them the ability to blur out the background of their images while maintaining focus on their subjects. The ultra-fast, f/1.8 lens also allows users to take better photos in low-light environments as more light is passed through to the new high-performance 1/1.7” CCD sensor. Larger than the sensors typically found in compact digital cameras, the Samsung EX1’s 1/1.7” CCD offers unrivaled sensitivity (max ISO 3200/full-resolution). Together with Samsung’s re engineered and fast, DRIMeIII imaging processor, the Samsung EX1 captures high-quality images, regardless of the lighting environment. For blur free images, the Samsung EX1’s lens is also paired with Samsung’s Dual Image Stabilisation technology.

Samsung EX1 camera produces high quality images
“With the Samsung EX1, Samsung further differentiates its line-up from the competition and achieves yet another milestone in the industry,” said Steve Mitchell, General Marketing Manager, Samsung Digital Imaging. “With ultra-wide angle capability and unparalleled speed, the Samsung EX1’s lens offers a new level of versatility allowing the user to be more creative and take better pictures.”

Samsung EX1 features a 3″ AMOLED screen
Composing and reviewing images on the Samsung EX1’s three-inch, swiveling AMOLED screen is a pleasure. The rotating AMOLED display will allow photographers to precisely frame their images the way they want and shoot from just about any angle, including overhead or low-to-the-ground shots. Compared to the traditional TFT-LCD found on most digital cameras, the Samsung EX1’s AMOLED provides users with a higher contrast ratio, deeper blacks and more accurate, vivid colors, even when viewed from an angle or in direct sunlight. The Samsung EX1’s AMOLED display is also more efficient when it comes to power consumption, allowing photographers to maximize battery life and shoot longer on a single charge.

Samsung EX1 shooting options
The Samsung EX1 supports RAW and gives enthusiasts full control over their images thanks to its shutter priority, aperture priority and full Manual shooting modes. When using these settings, shooters can experiment with features such as slower shutter speeds and depth-of-field; however, for those who prefer ease-of-use over manual controls, the Samsung EX1 also offers Samsung’s Smart Auto 2.0 (Still & Movie) scene recognition technology. Applicable for video recording (640×480 / 30fps / H.264) and taking digital stills, this intelligent feature analyzes the scene and then automatically selects the appropriate settings for the best results possible. Using this mode is effortless and users don’t have to sacrifice image quality for simple operation.

COASTAL CREW webisode 2 : Behind the shot.

Gesture Cube

“From pen and paper to typewriters we traveled onward to keyboards and input devices, and now further onward to touchscreens. But what’s after the touchscreen? What new interface will Apple or its challengers be generating buzz about in five or ten years?

This “Gesture Cube” interface concept could be it. Check out the video, even though it moves a bit slow for my tastes–I’d say you can skip the first 1:05 to get right to the cool stuff.

I can’t wait to see hardened pros using this thing as fast as a pro typist; it’ll look like they’re doing kung fu.
In any case, here’s the nitty-gritty:

Just wave your hand to access music, web, your family and friends. You don´t even need to touch the surface. Gesture Cube uses 3D spatial movement tracking to detect your hand´s approach and movements. It´s a magical experience. Using natural gestures to control our electronics helps to draw them closer to human behaviour, making things easier and more fun. The result is an intuitive product concept with unlimited possibilities.
LUNAR Europe designed Gesture Cube as a three-dimensional object without a clear front to allow a wider range of gestures for its interface, to show different levels of an application or to conveniently multitask between various applications. The Gesture Cube´s design is simple yet so beautiful it also acts as a sculptural icon in your living space.

Gesture Cube is a joint development by three partnering companies:
Product Design by LUNAR Europe, User Interface Design by ZINOSIGN and Technology by IDENT Technology AG.” Core 77.

BLACKCROWSxNISSAN CUBE

BlackCrows skis, one of my favourite ski company, maybe becasue they are making the nicest skis on the market or maybe also because they are rooted in Chamonix…., Anyway, Black Crows teamed up with Nissan in order to create two CUBExBlackCrows. Pretty sweet, lucky riders….

Cam’s front flip on Mega Ramp

It seems that Cam got fronty’s pretty dialled now, as you can see on this little vid from Kyle Strait showing CMC sending a huge frontflip over a mega ramp….

The Sam Reynolds’ coffeetalk…

I first met Sam Reynolds during DOT 2009. I always loved the riding style of UK dirtjumpers, especially those ones who are sticking on trails despite the bad weather they have over the channel ! Maybe it’s because i was a huge fan of SPRUNG and i stick to that style of riding from the begining, anyway, watching Sam riding on the Hafjell’s trail was pure pleasure. More than that, he was sending crazy tricks, and smiling non-stop for one week. Not that his Harry Potter haircut style isn’t helping to make him looks cool, his behaviour is always really chill’. I can’t wait to film with him again this year, and even if he didn’t make it that good at Leogang, for the first contest of the year, we can put for sure the blame on the snow héhéhé… Anyway, his good riding pays off and he’s now on the Blabs team and still killin’ it for Nike 6.0 as you have seen it couple of weeks ago in “behind the scene video” from the 6.0 UK shooting. Enough speaking for me now, let’s the man express himself…Photos credits on Adam Swords, Joakim Andreassen and Szymon Nieborak. (more…)

Aaxa L1, a laser-driven LCoS pico projector

AAXA has announced their latest pico-projector, the L1 laser pico projector. This is a laser-driven LCoS projector (20 lumens, 800×600, up to 50″ images) with a built-in media player. It’s tiny: 4.2″ x 2.1″ x 0.8″ and weighs just 170 grams (including the battery). It uses lasers, so it’s focus-free and can project on curved surfaces. It has 160MB of internal memory, but can access USB disks, and a 2GB one is included. It supports movie, photo and audio files. It also supports office documents. AAXA say that the battery life is 90 minutes.
