Coffee Talk : Yannick Granieri

We’re in les 2 Alpes right now ? what are you doing here ?
My team (Ayton-Giant) is sponsored by les 2 alpes so every year we shaped some new trails .
I spend my last 2 weeks making the line ” les vallons” a single trail with seven wood stunts on it. The trail is on a steep hill and the berms are really closed so its kind of technical…i rode it the whole week i had good fun on it…Last week-end was “the mondial du vtt” in les 2 Alpes, it’s an french mtb meetings for a famous race who start on the snow and there is also a moutain bike village with a couples of brand who present the new product and you can also try the new bikes..
We’re in the middle of the season. How things going for you ’so far ?
Everything is fine for me i spend most of my time on my bike trying to get more and more experience…i did a couples of european contests and i’m pretty happy with my results…so i hope it will go on like that….
What’s your future plans ?
The next few week i wanna ride my full suspension as much as possible. we have project to organize a slopestyle contest here in les 2 alpes. Cervo and me are looking to find a good design for the course..our first wish is to make a really moutain bike course with big stuff, berms, wood and hopefully on the moutain…ahhha….i’m going to participate to the famous 26 trix in Leogang (austria) ad the new comp “Big in bavaria” in Munich…In the and of july my friend Amir kabbani and me have project to go in the Crankwork Colorado for the first time..we are really exciting to participate to such a big event, and then straight to Whistler to ride downhill and maybe the slopestye contest…

You’re not riding for many years but it seems that your approach of riding is kind of changing at the moment. In which direction would you like to go, ridingwise ?
yes i ride a moutainbike since now 3 years so i’ ve spend the most of my time on my hardtail cause of the europeen contest we only organise dirtjump comp…i would love to ride some really moutain bike contest where you need a real mtb…now i try to ride my full suspension as much as i can to become a real mountain biker not just a dirtjumper…i still love to ride my hardtail but i think its not the way of the moutainbike….i started riding mtb to ride big stunt a get fun and sensation everytime i ride my bike…i hope the mtb contest gonna change in this way.
You’re riding BMX also ? Do you think that there’s much difference between dirtjumping in BMX and MTB ?
Yes i love riding my bmx during the winter time trying some tricks in our indoor park…actually there is not really difference between the both thing…90 % of the europeen contest are shaped for mtb but u can also ride the course on your bmx if u wish it…i mean the course are really good and fun to ride it but it’s not enough mtb made…i don’t really feel the riding difference on my bike, off course the bike is smaller and there is no suspension, but i really like to ride both but i don’t ride both bike on the same dirtjump spot…cause then you can’t ride mtb anymore because it’s better and funnier on bmx….ahahha….i would like to say something to some bmx guy, ” please guy please stop the war between bmx and mtb cause its really ridiculous. We ride bikes to have fun and take air so please ride what you like and stay positive on the evolution of mtb. We are in the two wheels’ world so enjoy your ride and forget the difference of size….thanks ”
You’re kind of famous now on the MTB scene in France. It seems that you had some problems with forum kids talking shit about you and your attitude, what do you have to say about that ?
Ahaha yes since little time there are some guys who talk shit about me on internet…ahahah…the first time i saw it i was really surprise to read it….but anyway after have check some post of it i can realize to no one of those guys know me…so you can’t juge somebody only on the interview or the things that you heard about…but i think it’s interesting to know what the people think about you….so the things is please guys before say something about somebody try to really know who he is and maybe why he did something ’cause you never know the whole situation…
Any last words ?
Enjoy your ride , ride for fun and stay strong….and fuking push your limit as much as possible…
